I don't think I humblebrag enough about my amazingly talented friends. My good friend, Dan, is a beast in the kitchen, he knows how flavors works and what reacts best to tastebuds. Dan is currently working his way out of the kitchen and into his own food-studio to share his creations with others. To get to that point, he is doing a monthly dinner for friends called the #SecretSupperSeries. This consist of a themed 4-course dinner, each month is different.
I was fortunate enough to attend the 2nd #SecretSupperSeries last weekend, which took place at Dan's house. I had no idea what to expect from Dan, but deliciousness was definitely promised...
First course: Black eyed pea hush puppy w/ remoulade.
Freshly brewed iced tea.
Second course: Smoked BBQ chicken w/ collard greens and mac n cheese.
Third course: Chicken & waffles: Sous vide fried chicken, sweet potato cornmeal waffle, wilted kale, pickled watermelon rind, red onion, and cane syrup.
Dessert: Peach-habanero praline cobbler w/ buttermilk ice cream.
We were all stuffed and completely satisfied. I wish I could go in-depth about how amazing the food was, but I honestly don't know enough about food to explain what I experienced. Everything was delicious.
