I’m sure it’s no surprise that I ended up at the launch party for the Xbox One last week. I’ve been loyal to the console since the beginning and couldn’t wait to get my hands on the Microsoft’s next generation entertainment system.
The event took play in Hollywood at Milk Studios. It was packed full of celebrities, YouTube stars, professional gamers, and fanboys.
Forza Mortorsport had a pretty nice setup in VIP. I was way too distracted by the Audi R8 to actually put my hands on the game.
The highlight of the night was the 2-hour set from Deadmau5. The Mau5 and Microsoft have an awesome relationship, it was great to get an intimate show from him outside of the music festivals I’ve been to.
Xbox nailed it with this launch party, it definitely eased the strobing pain in my wallet after buying the Day One unit. Can’t wait to start playing.
It was about a week and a half ago when I was on the phone with R&B singer, Macy Gray. She sounded like she was in a hurry and had a million thoughts going through her head, I was also in the same position because I couldn’t believe I was on the phone with the artist who sung the theme song to Nickelodeon’s “As Told By Ginger“. Her manager had put me on the phone with her to flush out some final ideas for her performance at Java Soulnation Festival, which took place all the way in Jakarta, Indonesia. I was building out stage content for her set and needed some extra direction to finish up some clips to send out.
Macy was stoked on the results, which made me stoked that my work was going to be all the way in Southeast Asia! I was sent pics from the festival a couple of days ago, check them out below!
Though the Arctic Monkeys had 3 sold out shows in Los Angeles at the Wiltern, I was able to catch a secret show at the Red Bull Sound Space at KROQ thanks to my job.
The english group played an intimate set that mostly consisted of songs from their most recent album, “AM.” It was a rewarding performance even though every girl was howling at the lead vocalist, Alex Turner, throughout the show.
Last week I went out to Greystone for the launch of NBA2K14. I’m a huge gamer, but I’ve never really been into sport games like the NBA2K franchise. Once I got to Greystone I immediately grabbed a Playstation controller and got my ass kicked in the paint, since I had no clue what I was doing. Though I was clueless of how to play the game, I was still incredibly entertained by the overall gameplay.
The event was epic. There was an open bar where I consumed way too many Shirley Temples, a photo booth, and a live performance by Juicy J!
Let’s rewind a couple of weeks back to when I went to FYF Fest 2013, an indie music festival that once took place at the Echoplex, that then bloomed into a massive two day event that’s now held at the L.A. Historic State Park.
It was a last minute decision for me to attend FYF, but once I got word that I wasn’t working the weekend of the event, I hit Twitter to find a ticket since they were all sold out. Shout out to my buddy, Allen, over at MySpace for hooking it up!
[SMD b2b w/ Bicep]
[Yeah Yeah Yeahs]
Day-1 had a lot of awesome performances. I was able to catch Toro Y Moi, Classixx, Deerhunter, Nosaj Thing, TV On The Radio, SMD b2b w/ Bicep, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Death Grips(Yes, they actually showed up).
It was a mind blowing showcase with great Summer in LA vibes that complimented a solid lineup. Can’t wait for FYF Fest 2014.
