Peace 2009(09 wrap up)

I never really “look back”, I always keep looking forward and make sure I head in that direction as well. Writing this post has forced me to look back into my past adventures and experiences… Wow, I’m forever having a great time, and that’s what life should be about, right? 2009 was another epic year for me. I’m a 19 year-old in Los Angeles who runs around the city meeting amazing people, working on projects, learning(the hard and easy way), teaching others, and forever doing everything with a smile. I love life and I refuse to have any regrets. Now, Let’s get started with the highlights of my 2009….

Hard new years

My new years was so good!!! It was well spent with Sasha, Steph, and DJ Eric at HARD fest in the Hollywood Palladium. I was lucky enough to get backstage wristbands, but most of my time was spent in the crowd with my friends .

Cool cats at cinespace 4/21/09

Today was overall a great day to start with, I got some good news for the future and things are just swell at the moment. Tonight I went out to Cinespace in Hollyhood, it was a pretty big night at the venue because peeps from Ed Recs were mixing(it was also Busy P’s birthday) including some other special peeps…

This was the first picture I took at Cinespace… What a coincidence, you’ll see why lower down.

I met up with Your Only Friend who was nice enough to actually hold on to my sweater(around his waist, something that I refuse to do). Thanks man!

Before all the DJs hit the stage, This band I’ve never heard of, The Whip, performed.

The birthday boy.

SebastiAn was first up to the mix-off.

Glenjamn was also in the house snapping it up.

Kavinsky and son, Surkin, was in the house.

Afterward, SoMe killed it with the tracks, I believe he even caused a mini moshpit.

Is it me or does Busy P have nailpolish on? Dgaf, he can pull that off.

A-Trak and Mehdi back at it again.

It was good to see DJ Mehdi mix again, dude was super hype throughout the whole night.

Check out Busy P’s backpack. I want.

Aaaw.

I was super pumped to see Kavinsky mix, it’s been about 2-3 years since I’ve seen him… I thought that he kinda… dissappeared. But he didn’t, and he still killed it!

Kavinsky was offering cap-sized shots to some peeps in the front row. I was also offered, unfortunately, I had to decline his offer(ya, I felt super wack), I’m not a huge fan of the alchy.

A-Trak with the Ed Phones on.

Fools Banger.

illin.

What a coincidence.

Epic.

Bromantic.

Homies

Happy birthday.

Coachella weekend 4/17-19/09

I just got back home from the most epic music festival that I’ve ever been to. I’m sure you’ve heard of it, it’s a 3 day event with tons of performances and art to keep you entertained for hours! That’s right, I went to Coachella.

To be completely honest, I wasn’t planning on going to Coachella at all this year. Luckily, Val convinced me to go with her, here’s my journey to my first Coachella…
FRIDAY -

With Val’s dad(Jose), driving and me backseat DJing, the drive to Palm Springs wasn’t as dreadful as I expected it to be.

Once we got to our hotel we decided to relax poolside with some friends whom met up with us there.

The weather was just right in Palm Springs.

Afterward, we went to this Benihana-ish place. Our chef, Jeremy, was pretty hilarious…stand-up chef comedy is where it’s at.

SATURDAY(iPhone Pics) -

It was hot at Coachella, but that didn’t stop anyone from enjoying the day.

The first sets I saw was Para One and Surkin. Both DJs killed it in different ways.

After the sets in the Sahara tent, I headed out to TV On The Radio. They performed great, but I think they performed a bit better when I saw them in San Francisco.

M.I.A.’s performance was full of energy. She even had some of the audience come up to the stage.

One of the last performances I saw on Saturday was MSTRKRFT. I’ve seen MSTRKRFT about 3-4 times and I can gladly say that they get better every time I see them. They performed a lot of tracks from their new album ‘Fist of God’. To end their set, they had John Legend come out and perform the MSTRKRFT remix of ‘Greenlight‘ and one of my favorite songs off of Fist of God, ‘Heartbreaker‘.

Sunday -

It was an incredibly hot day on Sunday(hotter than Saturday).

Caught some shade in the Sahara ten while listening to Busy P mixing it up for a bit.

Lykke Li’s performance was very enjoyable, especially when she performed ‘A Milli’ at the end.

Everyone was looking foward to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs including myself. They played older tracks and some new stuff off of their latest album ‘It’s Blitz’.

Random pics.

More.

Etienne De Crecy set started and ended with a bang! The visuals we beyond creative.

Skeetin’ monday 4/13/09

I actually had this Monday off work, so I tried my best to focus to get some freelance work done for some talk shows in NY but I think I kinda failed…Damn A.D.H.D.

There’s nothing like a good distraction from editing, especially when it’s The Office.

I also found my old i.d. while being distracted in my room. This i.d. is from when I was 9(9 years ago). My looks have changed a lot in 9 years, here’s a pic of what I look like NOW.

After having a hard time focusing when it came to editing(got the job done though), I rolled out to Urth Cafe with Ron.

I ended my night at Eatskeet Monday @Temporary Spaces.

It was full of fun. Lot of homies were in the house.

Skeet was able to bring out Rye Rye as the special guest of the night before her performance at Coachella. She brought mad energy.

Wrd Skeet, wrd.

Next Week.
