Seattle 2017

Instead of being stuck in LA during a heatwave for Labor Day, my girlfriend and I decided that it would be cool to spend the holiday weekend up north in Seattle, Washington. Neither of us have been there before and being the adventurous people we are, we just needed to hop on a plane somewhere. Luckily, Seattle was the perfect spot.

We started with getting clam chowder at Pike’s Place and quickly transitioned to kayaking. Though my girlfriend was doing most of the work, I had a blast kayaking for the first time. If you have any spots for kayaking in or around LA, lemme know :] We got to relax a bit when we stopped by the glass museum. If you’re obssessed with going to Instagramable spots, the Chihuly Glass and Glass exhibit is a must to see. We ended day 1 catching a Mariners game at Safeco Field. Our awesome AirBnB host(we stayed here) surprised us with tickets and it was great! It was also my girlfriend’s first time at a baseball game, which worked out super well because the Mariners won!

Normally it wouldn’t be a problem, but both PAX West and a massive music festival was going on the weekend we were out in Seattle. We chose to just go back to the airport to grab a car which immediately turned our day around. We raced towards our first stop Mt. Ranier,  which was beautiful a beautiful drive. We got to do a mini-hike and more nature stuff. I’m not a big nature-head, but my gf helps me appreciate it more than normal. We hit some more nature afterwards to catch a beautiful waterfall. Our final stop was the Washington State Fair. It was my request to go to the fair since I haven’t been to one in so long. We ate a ton and neglected all the rides, but we did get a kick out of people watching.

Washington was a great getaway for Labor Day because of the cheap flight from LA, fun activities in the city and the plethora of nature outside of it.
