Let’s rewind a couple of weeks back to when I went to FYF Fest 2013, an indie music festival that once took place at the Echoplex, that then bloomed into a massive two day event that’s now held at the L.A. Historic State Park.
It was a last minute decision for me to attend FYF, but once I got word that I wasn’t working the weekend of the event, I hit Twitter to find a ticket since they were all sold out. Shout out to my buddy, Allen, over at MySpace for hooking it up!
[SMD b2b w/ Bicep]
[Yeah Yeah Yeahs]
Day-1 had a lot of awesome performances. I was able to catch Toro Y Moi, Classixx, Deerhunter, Nosaj Thing, TV On The Radio, SMD b2b w/ Bicep, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Death Grips(Yes, they actually showed up).
It was a mind blowing showcase with great Summer in LA vibes that complimented a solid lineup. Can’t wait for FYF Fest 2014.
I’ve been pushing a lot of pixels recently. I make pixels twerk over at my main job at Cashmere Agency, handle a residency doing live design at Create Nightclub, and most recently, I got a chance to hit up HARD with some content…
Though HARD Summer was a 2-day event, I only went out on the second day of the event. Once I got there I met up with my V Squared Labs peeps to get set up..
Had a lot of fun working the Underground Stage and checking out the other sets.
I don’t think I humblebrag enough about my amazingly talented friends. My good friend, Dan, is a beast in the kitchen, he knows how flavors works and what reacts best to tastebuds. Dan is currently working his way out of the kitchen and into his own food-studio to share his creations with others. To get to that point, he is doing a monthly dinner for friends called the #SecretSupperSeries. This consist of a themed 4-course dinner, each month is different…
I was fortunate enough to attend the 2nd #SecretSupperSeries last weekend, which took place at Dan’s house. I had no idea what to expect from Dan, but deliciousness was definitely promised…
First course: Black eyed pea hush puppy w/ remoulade.
Freshly brewed iced tea.
Second course: Smoked BBQ chicken w/ collard greens and mac n cheese.
Third course: Chicken & waffles: Sous vide fried chicken, sweet potato cornmeal waffle, wilted kale, pickled watermelon rind, red onion, and cane syrup.
Dessert: Peach-habanero praline cobbler w/ buttermilk ice cream.
We were all stuffed and completely satisfied. I wish I could go in-depth about how amazing the food was, but I honestly don’t know enough about food to explain what I experienced. Everything was delicious.
If you’re interested in attending Dan’s #SecretSupperSeries, just hit him up on Twitter!
So I may have done some geeking out this week when I went out to Anaheim to attend SIGGRAPH. SIGGRAPH is a conference and exhibition focused on computer graphics and interactive techniques. It’s also a place where big companies gather to showoff their latest industry toys that’s going to be booming in the next couple of years…
This would be my 3rd year attending SIGGRAPH. This year it was even more packed than the previous years.
Super thanks to the peeps over LightWave for hooking it up with credentials this year. Nothing like going to an event for free!
Nvidia was showing off all kinds of awesomeness. They even announced their new Kepler GPUs(aka Project logan) and showed off Project Shield, their new handheld gaming device.
I probably spent the most time at the Maxon booth where I saw a variety of power users showoff the new release of Cinema4D.
4k touch displays are definitely the future for conference rooms.
Canon’s mixed reality headset is next level. Can’t wait to see them implement this tech in their cameras, I give it 5 years.
Been meaning to jump into Pixologic’s ZBrush for the longest, but been lagging. Can’t wait to get my hands on copy so I can bang out some sculpting and modeling.
SIGGRAPH 2013 was packed with mind blowing next-gen industry tools. Though these tools were made for professionals, a lot of what I saw were priced at an affordable price. Great to see high-end hardware and software coming at an affordable price for everyone.
Had a lot of fun working on this episode of GGN! Especially putting together the Larry and Snoop music video. It was also featured on Jimmy Fallon!
